If you need to give up a dog, the process must begin with one of three options:
1) Fill out our Surrender Form.
2) If urgent, call our hotline @ 602-926-8153. Please leave a message.
3) E-mail swdalrescue@gmail.com
----
Please allow us 24-48 hours to get back to you as phone calls take time to return and we only have a small time during the day to return calls. The more details you provide in your message, the easier it will be for us to give the call the proper attention it deserves. NOTE: We only accept purebred Dalmatians at this time. Please email us a picture of your dog if you can.
If you adopted the dog from Southwest Dalmatian Rescue or Dalmatian Rescue of Arizona, please have your adoption contract available and provide us with the date of the adoption and the name of the dog at the time of adoption. Please remember that although our contract specifies that we will take a dog back, we may not have foster homes available and might have to find an alternate place to keep the dog.
----
The Process: The process begins with a phone call or email describing the dog and why you are giving him/her up. Please provide detailed information and a number and time when we can reach you. After talking with you, and upon determination that we can possibly place your dog, we will make an appointment to meet and evaluate the dog. Important: please do not contact any other rescues until we give you and answer on whether we can or can't take the dog into the program. If you do, please let them know that we are looking into it. All dogs coming into our program must undergo a temperament test. After the temperament test is complete, you should hear back from us within a couple of days with an estimate as to when we can bring the dog into the program. Timing depends upon the availability of our foster homes and on how many dogs we can handle in the program at one time. Our busiest times are during holiday and vacation seasons. When you bring your dog in for relinquishment, please bring all medical records.
----
Fees: We charge $75.00 for giving up a dog the if not spayed or neutered and/or UTD on shots, however, if the dog is spayed or neutered and up-to-date on shots before coming into the program there will be no charge. We will also need current copies of their medical records when the dog is turned over to rescue so we can verify.
---
What We Provide: We provide foster care and training for the dogs in our care. We also screen adoptive families and conduct a home visit to the adopter's home. We try to provide the best match for your dog and the more information you can provide us about your dog, the better job we can do in finding him/her the right home.
